The shells are finely sanded and then treated with natural carnauba wax and linseed oil.
Cleaning can be done with a damp cloth.
An occasional treatment with a hardening oil (linseed oil, walnut oil or tung oil) preserves the decorative surface.
Other oils, such as olive oil, are unsuitable for care as they become rancid.
